Holy Week is the climax of the Church’s year and its celebration is of the highest importance for the Christian
people.
It commences with Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion and is celebrated on Sun 13ᵗʰ April.
Tues 15th April: Parish Penitential Healing Service will take place in St. Fursey’s Church at 7p.m.
Wed 16ᵗʰ April: The Chrism Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh at 7p.m. All
are welcome. The Mass is also available via Armagh Parish Cathedral webcam at www.armaghparish.net
The Easter Triduum
Holy Thursday 17ᵗʰ April: Morning Prayer of the Church at 9-30a.m. in St. Fursey’s Church,
Haggardstown. (Mass at 9a.m. is not celebrated on Holy Thurs, Good Fri and Holy Sat).
Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated in St. Oliver Plunkett Church, at 6.30p.m.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place at Our Lady’s Altar and conclude with night
prayer at 8.00p.m.
All are invited to spend some period of time in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
Good Friday 18ᵗʰ April: Day of fast and abstinence.
Morning Prayer of the Church at 9.30a.m. in St. Fursey’s Church.
The Way of the Cross (Stations of the Cross) will be a walk for hope in this Jubilee Year,
commencing at 2p.m. on the green at St. Fursey’s Tee and concluding at St. Oliver Plunkett Church
with Veneration of the Cross and prayer.
Celebration of the Lord’s Passion will be celebrated in St. Fursey’s Church at 3p.m.
Holy Saturday 19ᵗʰ April: Morning Prayer of the Church at 9.30a.m. in St. Fursey’s Church,
Haggardstown. Blessing of Food at Morning Prayer (Polish tradition).
Celebration of the Easter Vigil will take place in St. Oliver Plunkett Church at 6.30p.m.
Easter Sunday 20ᵗʰ April : Easter day ofthe Lord’s Resurrection. Ecumenical Service: at the
Sundial, Main St, Blackrock at 7a.m. Mass times: St. Fursey’s. 9a.m. and 10.30a.m.
